Chore Chart Template (Excel + Google Sheets, Free)
What's inside the chore chart template
The template is a single Chore Chart grid: chores run down the left column and the seven days of the week run across the top, Monday through Sunday. A few example chores are pre-filled so you can see the format immediately, and every row is editable — swap in your own chores and put a name next to each one.
Because the whole week sits on one grid, anyone in the house can glance at it and see what's due today and what's still open for the week, instead of flipping between separate daily lists.
What calculates automatically: the daily count
Mark an x in the cell for the day a chore is completed, and the daily count row below the grid totals how many chores got done that day — you don't add anything up by hand. It's a small piece of automation, but it turns the chart into something you can check at a glance instead of scanning every row.
Because the count updates live as marks are added through the week, it also works as a quick way to see which days chores tend to slip, without keeping a separate tally sheet.
Why this beats a blank spreadsheet
A blank grid means ruling the columns yourself, deciding how to lay out a week, and manually counting completions every time someone asks how the week is going. This template has the week-long grid and the daily count formula already in place, so you're filling in chores and names, not building a spreadsheet from a blank sheet.
It's also simple enough that kids can use it directly — one grid, one mark per day, no separate tabs or dropdowns to navigate — which matters more for a chore chart than for most spreadsheet templates.
How to use it
- List the chores down the left column, replacing or keeping the pre-filled examples.
- Put a name next to each chore.
- Mark an x in the cell for each day the chore is done.
- Check the daily count row below the chart to see how many chores were completed that day.
