What's in the daily cash register balance sheet
One tab, Register Reconciliation, holds up to 90 shifts (about 3 months of daily counts): date, shift/register, starting float, and expected sales from your POS.
Denomination fields cover $100 down to $1 bills plus quarters, dimes and nickels - enter the quantity of each, and total counted calculates automatically at the correct dollar value per denomination.
Expected total, variance and status (BALANCED, OVER or SHORT) calculate for every row, and the summary below the table totals variance across the whole period plus a count of shifts in each status.
Denomination-level counting, not a single total field
Most free till-reconciliation templates ask for one lump 'cash counted' number, which means someone still has to add up the drawer by hand on a calculator or notepad first.
Here you enter bill and coin quantities directly and the sheet does the multiplication - $100 bills times 100, quarters times 0.25, and so on - reducing one common source of counting errors.
Over/short variance, flagged automatically
Status reads BALANCED only when counted matches expected exactly - any variance, even a few cents, flags OVER or SHORT so nothing gets quietly rounded away or ignored.
This is one drawer per shift versus expected sales - it's a till reconciliation, not a full daily P&L. If you need food/beverage cost and labor tracked alongside sales, see a restaurant P&L template instead.

Does it calculate the counted total from bill and coin quantities?
Yes. Enter how many of each denomination - $100 bills down to nickels - and the sheet multiplies and sums them into a total counted figure automatically.
How is a shift flagged over or short?
Variance is total counted minus expected total (starting float plus expected sales). Zero reads BALANCED, positive reads OVER, negative reads SHORT.
How many shifts can it hold?
Up to 90 rows, enough for about three months of daily counts across one or more registers.
Can I use this in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the downloaded file to Google Drive, then open it and choose File > Save as Google Sheets.
What's the usage license?
Personal use or use within one business. It's not meant to be resold or redistributed as a template product.
