Free Basketball Schedule Template (Excel)
What's in the basketball schedule template
The Schedule sheet holds up to 30 games. For each one, enter the date, opponent, whether you're home or away, and the final score - points for and points against.
Result (W, L or T) and point differential calculate automatically once both scores are entered. The summary below totals your wins, losses, ties, win rate across decided games, and total point differential for the season.
The Round Robin tab is a second sheet with a ready-made 8-team, 7-round schedule built with the standard circle method - every team plays every other team exactly once - so you can relabel the team names and use it directly for a league or tournament.
How the round-robin schedule works
Building a round-robin schedule by hand for 8 teams means working out 28 total matchups across 7 rounds so nobody plays twice or sits out more than once - the Round Robin tab does that math for you already.
It's a fixed, pre-built schedule for exactly 8 teams - relabel Team 1 through Team 8 with your real team names. It doesn't regenerate a new pairing schedule for a different number of teams.
How to use it
- Log each game: date, opponent, home/away, and final score.
- Result and point differential calculate automatically once both scores are in.
- Check the summary for your record, win rate and season point differential.

Frequently asked questions
How is the result calculated?
Result compares points for and points against: higher points for is a win, lower is a loss, and equal points is a tie. It stays blank until you enter a score for that game.
Does win rate count unplayed games?
No. Win rate only counts decided games - rows with a win, loss or tie result. Games with no score entered yet aren't included.
Does the Round Robin tab auto-generate a schedule for my team count?
No. It's a fixed, pre-built 8-team, 7-round schedule using the circle method. Relabel the team names to match your league; it isn't dynamic for other team counts.
Can I use this in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the downloaded file to Google Drive, open it, then choose File > Save as Google Sheets.
How many games does the Schedule sheet support?
Up to 30 games - enough for a full recreational or school-league regular season.
