Free Food Order Template (Excel)
What's in the food order template
The workbook has one working tab, Food Order, with 80 rows: item, category, unit (lb, kg, case, each, gallon, dozen), quantity and unit price - line total calculates automatically.
Category and Unit are both dropdown lists, so every line stays consistent, and the summary below the table rolls up total order value and dollar totals by category (Produce, Meat & Seafood, Dairy) automatically.
The summary also counts how many items were actually ordered - a row stays blank, not $0.00, until you type an item name.
A supply order, not a client invoice
This is a genuinely different document from catering-invoice-templates on this site: that one bills an event client for food, beverage, staff and rental charges. This one is for ordering supplies from a vendor to restock your own kitchen or catering pantry - there's no client, tax or deposit involved.
hub-sheet.com's food-order template only handles a single supplier with no category breakdown; chefs-resources.com's is a generic printable form. This file rolls totals up by category automatically, which neither of those does.
Who this template is for
Restaurant kitchens, catering companies and food-service operations that place recurring supply orders and want a quick category breakdown of what they're spending on produce, meat, dairy and other supplies.
It's a single-order sheet, not an ongoing inventory or par-level reorder system - use it per order, not as a running stock count.
How to use it
- List every item to order with category, unit, quantity and unit price.
- Line total calculates automatically for every row.
- Check the summary for total order value and dollar totals by category.

Is this the same as an invoice to a client?
No. This is an internal supply order for restocking your own kitchen or catering pantry - use catering-invoice-templates on this site to bill an event client instead.
Does it break the order down by category automatically?
Yes. Category is a dropdown, and the summary totals dollar value for Produce, Meat & Seafood and Dairy automatically using SUMIF.
How many items can one order hold?
Up to 80 rows on the Food Order sheet.
Can I use this in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the downloaded file to Google Drive, open it, and choose File > Save as Google Sheets - the formulas keep working.
What's the usage license?
Personal use or use within one business. It's not meant to be resold or redistributed as a template product.
