Why a Multi-Goal Tracker Beats a Single-Goal Worksheet

A lot of free SMART goal templates are built as a single-goal worksheet: fields for one goal's specific description, measurable target, and deadline, printed or copied once per goal. That works for setting one goal, but it's awkward once you have five, ten, or a whole team's worth to track at once.

This template is a table instead: one row per goal, so your whole goal set - personal or team - sits on one sheet where you can scan status and deadlines together, rather than flipping between separate worksheets.

It still keeps the SMART fields that matter for tracking: a written goal, a measurable target, a priority, and a deadline. It's not five separate columns per goal for Specific/Measurable/Achievable/Relevant/Time-bound - keeping it to the fields you actually update is what makes it fast to fill in for a full list.

What's Inside the Free SMART Goals Template

One sheet, the SMART Goals Tracker, with 40 rows built in: Goal, Owner, Measurable target, Priority (High/Medium/Low), Deadline, and Percent complete as the fields you fill in.

Status and Days left are computed columns that update from what you enter, so you're not maintaining them by hand.

Filling In Goals, Targets, and Deadlines

Write the goal itself in the Goal column, assign an owner, and describe what "done" looks like in Measurable target - a number, a milestone, whatever makes the goal checkable rather than vague.

Set a Priority and a Deadline for each row. Those two columns are what let you sort or filter the list down to what's high priority and coming up soon.

Tracking Progress and Status Automatically

Update Percent complete as work happens, and Status follows automatically: 0 percent shows Not started, anything between 0 and 100 shows In progress, and 100 percent shows Complete.

Days left counts down from today to the deadline you entered, recalculating every time you open the file, so you always know how much runway is left without checking a calendar separately.

The summary block counts goals by status and averages Percent complete across the whole list, giving you a one-glance view of how the full set is tracking.

How to use it

  1. Write each goal as one row: specific description, measurable target, priority, and deadline.
  2. Update percent complete as you go - status and days-left calculate automatically.
  3. Check the summary counts to see your whole goal set by status at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this SMART goals template in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the downloaded file to Google Drive, then open it and choose File > Save as Google Sheets. All the formulas keep working.

Does it have separate columns for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound?

No. Each goal is one row with a written description, a measurable target, a priority, and a deadline. That covers what you actually track day to day without needing five separate columns per goal, which keeps it fast to fill in for a full goal set.

Does status update automatically as I update percent complete?

Yes. Status is a formula based on the percent complete you enter - you don't set it manually.

How many goals can I track?

The tracker has 40 rows built in. It's a standard Excel/Sheets table, so you can insert more rows and the formulas will extend.

What's the usage license?
