Why this invoice generator exports a real Excel file
Search for "invoice generator" and you'll land on Wise, Zoho, Adobe Express, Canva, invoice-generator.com, or Bloom. All of them produce a PDF. That's fine for sending an invoice once — but none of them hand you back a spreadsheet you can reopen, recalculate, or file next to your other accounting records. If you want to keep an editable copy, you're expected to sign up for an account and store it in someone else's system.
Ours works differently. Every export includes a native .xlsx workbook with the same math you see on screen written as live formulas: quantity times rate for every line, a SUM() for the subtotal, and a formula for tax and the grand total. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, change a quantity, and the total recalculates — it's a real spreadsheet, not a picture of one.
How it works
Add your business name and logo, your client's details, and as many line items as you need — description, quantity, and rate. The subtotal, any discount, tax, and shipping all update as you type. Nothing is saved anywhere except your own browser: we use localStorage to keep a draft so you don't lose your work on a refresh, and that's the only place your data ever lives.
When you're ready, choose your export: Download PDF opens the print dialog with a clean, letter-sized layout (no buttons, no ads); Download Excel builds the .xlsx with formulas described above; Download CSV gives you a plain spreadsheet row per line item plus a totals footer, useful for importing into other tools.
What's included
Logo upload, invoice numbering that increments automatically, multi-currency line items, percentage or fixed-amount discounts, a tax field with a free-text label (so you can call it sales tax, VAT, or GST), shipping, notes, and payment terms. Your last invoice is saved as a draft automatically, and a Clear button lets you start fresh whenever you want.

Is this invoice generator really free, with no sign-up?
Yes. There's no account, no email gate, and no watermark on your PDF. The tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript; we don't see or store your invoice data.
Does the Excel export actually contain formulas, or is it just a table?
It contains live formulas. Each line's amount is calculated with a spreadsheet formula (quantity × rate), the subtotal uses SUM(), and tax and the total are formulas that reference those cells — so if you edit a quantity after downloading, the totals recalculate automatically in Excel or Google Sheets.
Where is my invoice data stored?
Only in your own browser's localStorage, as a draft, so you don't lose your work between visits. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Clearing your browser data or using a different device/browser means the draft won't be there.
Can I use this for international invoices with customs fields?
Use the proforma or commercial invoice generator (linked below) — they add Incoterms, HS codes, country of origin, and net/gross weight per line, which the generic version doesn't need.
What if I need to track invoices over time, not just generate one?
